According to the financial news app Zhitong Finance, Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft (MSFT.US), received a total compensation of $79.1 million for the fiscal year 2024, representing a 63% increase from the previous year. This reflects Microsoft's ambition in the field of artificial intelligence tools.
Based on regulatory filings submitted by Microsoft on Thursday, approximately 90% of Nadella's compensation is in the form of Microsoft stock. This is also the largest compensation he has received in any year since becoming the third CEO of Microsoft in 2014.
However, if Nadella had not voluntarily requested a pay cut to reflect his personal responsibility for the company's response to cybersecurity risks, his compensation could have increased by about $5 million. In recent years, Microsoft has faced a series of hacker attacks due to software security issues, prompting scrutiny from various parties including the U.S. Cybersecurity Review Commission.
The Microsoft Board's Compensation Committee emphasized in the filing that despite the challenges, they still believe Nadella has provided outstanding leadership, played a key role in driving strong performance for the company, and personally overseen the continuous adjustment of the company's investments and priorities.
In addition, CFO Amy Hood's annual compensation rose to $25.8 million, a 30% increase, while President Brad Smith's compensation also increased by 29% to $23.4 million. These compensation increases reflect the contributions of Microsoft's senior management team in driving the company's strategy and performance
