OpenAI has quietly modified its core values.
AGI is listed at the top.
OpenAI is going all out to develop Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)?
Recently, OpenAI quietly modified its core values on its official website, placing AGI at the top and emphasizing its development.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman previously stated that AGI is equivalent to "a human-level assistant that can be hired".
According to a screenshot from the media on September 25, 2022, OpenAI's recruitment page listed six core values for its employees to follow: Boldness, Thoughtfulness, Humility, Focus on Impact, Collaboration, and Growth Mindset.
Now, the same page lists five values, with "AGI Focus" being the first. OpenAI's official website states:
We are committed to building safe and beneficial AGI that will have a profound positive impact on humanity.
Anything that does not align with this goal is not within our scope of consideration.
The remaining four values are Intensity and Tenacity, Scalability, Creating User Delight, and Team Spirit.
OpenAI has expressed its desire to develop AGI for many years, but the specific nature of this technology is still unclear. In the mission statement published in 2018, OpenAI described AGI as "highly autonomous systems that outperform humans at most economically valuable work".
